Class Play&Senior Pictures

What is class play festival?

Every theatre class does a class play, which is also directed by students. Rehearsals are all in class during second semester. During Class Play Festival al the classes do their show in order. Every class has 7 minutes for setting the stage and 7 minutes to clear the stage.

On Saturday I woke up at like 8:30am, took a shower, packed my things and was waiting for my ride. It was already 9:50 and I had to be in school by 10am, so I called Bailey asking if she is still picking me up. She said she's gonna be late tho, so Dardan drove me to school instead. We stood in the lobby for a little bit until Mrs.Fields asked everybody to go to their classrooms. We had about 2 hours until our show, so we spent it doing make up, messing with our hair and dancing. At some point we started listening to different Disney songs, it was SO much fun, Maggie and Taylor were standing on the table, singing haha. Some of the other shows brought us gifts which were all really sweet. A little bit before 12 we started warming up and 12pm we went down to the dressing room to start putting on costumes, doing hair and make up for the show. Originally we were supposed to go on the stage at 1pm, so technically we should have time, right? But then all the trouble started. First, my costume was totally ripped, so we started sewing it. Second, there were only like 2 people who did make up for the others. At one point Carolin was sewing my dress, while Natalie was doing my hair, while Emily was doing Natalie's make up. Then we realized how ripped my dress actually was so Emily(Our Director) went to find me a new costume - 5 MINUTES BEFORE THE SHOW - lol haha. Note that there was about 20 people in a small dressing room. When I was finally doing my make up and Emily had given me my new costume, we got a notice that the show before us is already over, it was 12:30pm...We didn't know if we are still going on the stage at 1pm or earlier so just in case I ran to change my costume, luckily it fit me! So I continued my make up and suddenly somebody came in and said ''Our Town your 7 minutes stage setting is gonna be on in a second'' It was the quickest make up finishing and we just ran out. Our show went so good tho! It was so much fun and we did great! Specially we had a lot of fun and hard time being quiet off the stage haha. It all went so fast, during the last scene I was honestly so sad, because it was over. After the show we went back to the classroom, cleaned it up and left because the other went to watch other shows. I had to leave tho so my host mom picked me up from school. Basically I went home, took my make up off to put a different make up on, changed clothes and then me, host mom, Adriana and Dardan drove to Arlington. Dardan went to take his Senior Pictures and since we took a picture of all three of us wearing our Letterman Jackets, me and Adriana went too. We spent like solid 1,5 hours there and on our way back we ate lunch(or dinner or whatever meal time it was) at Verts. Was pretty cool Saturday and Class Play was definitely one of the coolest things I did here!!!

Yes, I am having fun here

On Friday, during fifth period I was complaining that I want brugers. So I texted Hailey saying we should go to chapps after school. First Liz took us to my house, we chilled there a little bit and then walked to Chapps. Whenever we were standing in the intersection, there was a guy behind us. We were talking and suddenly this guy joins with our conversation and looks at me: ''You are the girl form Estonia, right?'' I was so confused haha, I had never seen him before. But as it came out, I had done a presentation about YFU in their class. During the conversation it also came out that he is actually from Russia, cool. We sat in Chapps for about half an hour, talking about our exchange years and recalling how we first met. It all seems so long time ago. Then we decided to go to tom thumb and ATM. I don't even remember what we were there for, but Hailey shower her genius gene there again. We walked around in the store and there was a soft stuffed football on the floor. Hailey picked it up, looked at it and said dead serious: ''Oh it's a baseball...omg I'm sorry it's a potato.'' I burst out laughing and almost had tears in my eyes, because she was actually being serious haha. Last hour we sat in Starbucks, it was really warm and sunny so we sat outside. Our conversation was manly about us having only 1 month left and how weird that is. About 8 o'clock Hailey's dad picked us up and drove me home.
On Saturday we went painting with Host mom, Adriana and Hannah. There were like 7 more people who signed up. We all sat in big tables and one artist was showing us what to do and how to paint on the stage. We were painting an indian head thingy. It was really fun, there was a couple who had had just enough wine, to make it all funny. Also the artist there was explaining and doing it all step by step so there really wasn't a chance to mess it up. Besides, art is art, the messier it is the more ''art'' it is, right? lol. It turned out really cool, and we had good time.
On Tuesday it was Adriana's voice recital, me and hostmom went to watch her. At first I didn't know I was going so I was just chilling in sweatpants and a huge hoodie, but 10 minutes after Adriana asked if I am coming we sat in the car wearing a dress and heels. The voice recital was in a small church and there were about 16 girls who were about to sing. She sang ''One Perfect Moment'' from Bring it on. I had heard her sing it at home so many times, and of course I started crying whenever she sang haha.
And On Thursday, I FINALLY got my Letterman Jacket back. It now has all the patches on and looks supercool!
On Friday, so yesterday, we didn't have Track. So after fourth period we went to our regular sushi place with Autumn. We were the only ones there so the food came out really fast, and as always, we enjoyed it. I love that place, 'cause usually we each order a dinner combo where you can pick two different kind of sushi and it is not even that expensive. My favorites are California Roll and Shrimp Tempura Roll. It was still pretty early when we were done with our dinner, next stop was Southlake town square. We decided to go shopping and just walked around a little bit. There was live music in front of one cafe, we had couple of sodas there and enjoyed the guy's singing. Since we realized that everything is too expensive tho, we drove back to Keller, each crabbed more money from home went back to Southlake, but this time to KOHL's. We spent nice 1,5 hours there, and honestly we were carrying things to the dressing room like crazy! But it was all on sale, I love KOHL's haha. It was almost 9pm but we were still in a mood for looking around, so we drove back to the town square, went to Sephora and book store and at about 10pm we were literally exhausted so she drove me home.

Only a month left?

I started my monthly posts. I posted whenever I had been here 1 month, 2, 3, 4... and so on. Today the number is 9.
I am in that weird point right now. Am I local? Or am I still foreign? I am going back in 1 month, but at that point right now I don't know where, who, what or why am I anymore. Not only do I not know where I am but I have no idea where I belong or where I should be. Sounds dramatic, but it's really not, it's kind a cool.

On one side I can't wait to go back! I am so very many excited to see my family, friends, my boyfriend, my cousins and everybody back in Estonia. I can't wait to hug them again, laugh with them, see them and spend time with them. One part of me really wants to get back to that so-called normal life I had where I knew exactly how everything works(Or did I?). I count the days and I am happy as the time gets closer to summer. I'll be back soon!

On the other side I can't imagine leaving. There are times when I look at my hostfamily and the only thought running through my head is ''These people are part of me. I am just so happy to have them.'' I feel like I care about them just SO much that I don't even realize anymore how much they mean to me. And then some days it just hits me that I actually have to leave soon. I mean how should I come home from school and not seeing my sister laying on the couch, watching netflix, or say hello to my hostmom, who's working in the office, everyday? Or how am I supposed to fall asleep at night when my sister is not sleeping couple of feet away from me or wake up in the morning and not accidentally finding one of the dogs in my bed because I had no idea she was sleeping with me? Or how should I wake up on the weekends without my hostmom asking how many eggs I want or without running to the donut shop, because it closes in 5 minutes?

Before you go on an exchange you hear everybody talking how 'during your year abroad you'll figure out who you are' and 'you'll find yourself' 'you'll be different once you get back home.' And then you come here, and since the first day you arrive you start thinking everyday - your main thought is 'okay, lets sit here and see how I am gonna change.' Then another day comes and another month, and another one...At some point in the middle of the year you feel disappointed because you were supposed to find yourself. You are kind a mad because everybody said how you are gonna figure out who you are, yet you feel like a complete mess right now and don't know anything anymore, plus you feel like you haven't changed at all.
And then comes the end, time when you realize that this whole year was changing you with every new adventure, with every moment you felt homesick, with every time you spent time with your family, well yea basically it changed you with every second. And then you realize that this person who left home in August doesn't exist anymore. The more you think you discover that you are not really homesick, but you miss the person who you were. After you have figured out who you've become and how much you have learned you are suddenly so scared to go back. You start worrying about literally the most stupid things like ''What if they don't like the 'new me'?'' ''Maybe I don't fit in anymore?'' ''Are they even excited that I'm coming back?''

~ And then there you are -  Currently at home, while wanting to go home, but scared to go back to the same palace you left and actually not ready at all to leave this place. ~

That's the funny part because then you just have no idea what to want or wish or do anymore.
Now comes my favorite part, because once you get your mind off of these thoughts and just enjoy what you have, it just kind a klicks and suddenly you have it all figured out. And then your only thought is ''wow'' because you finally understand that you have the coolest and loving friends and family who are waiting for you and who you are gonna see so so soon. You have millions of new ideas what you wanna do and where you wanna go once you get back, so life's gonna be more interesting than ever. You have an experience that many people don't have, you have your own year! You have people that were once just names on the sheet paper, but who you now love unconditionally and who are the best host family anybody could ever ask for because they are YOUR host family. You have so many friends in so many countries who you can pretty much call your brothers and sisters as well! You have a place in your host country that doesn't feel foreign anymore, you call it home. You now have two separate lives, separate worlds that probably will never connect because the person you are in your host country will never meet the person you are in your home country, they are different people, but both of them are one of a kind!
And then you just sit there and smile and can't figure out what have you done to deserve such a damn cool life!
At that point all you have is happiness and you finally feel proud of yourself! :)

YFU Re-Entry Orientation

After school, On Friday, we went to Chick-Fil-A with Liz, and just chilled a little bit. Before she drove me home we went to her house, her family is so cool! Later We had a really spontaneous idea to do a family movie night. So about 10 pm we were out of the house within 2 minutes and on our way to Harkins. We went to watch Guardians of the Galaxy 2 with Hannah, Darda, Adriana and my host mom. This movie was so good.
On Saturday was the Last YFU Orientation with My Amazing YFU North Tx Group! :(
Surprisingly there were so many people, some from Huston and everywhere else. The orientation was in Keller Library!!! Which is literally 1 min away from our house. That was the saddest YFU event I've ever had. We talked about leaving and got several papers which will help us during last weeks. It was so good to see everybody again! And no kidding haha, I cried. We were all sitting in a circle and MJ(YFU volunteer) asked us to close our eyes. Then she started giving directions like ''Think about arriving in your home country, think about your old room, your bed, your dog.'' And after we opened our eyes, at least half of us had tears in their eyes, including me. Of course, we had a lot of fun too, me, Hannah and Marca were laughing most of the time(And eating..) At the end of the orientation, we got our diplomas, and we could try on the graduation costume. Obviously, after the program was over we took tons of pictures, hugged a lot and last half an hour the last of us stood in front of the library just talking until everybody had a ride home. I also met some new people: Bence from Hungary and Kristian from Germany. I think I saw Bence in Mardi Gras but we didn't talk since they were in a different house. Also, fun fact, Since Marca drew a German flag on my name tag, Bence was so surprised when he heard I'm from Estonia, he had thought the whole time I'm from Germany. After that, he told me that actually, he would never think I'm from Estonia, more like France or Italy?! Lol. It was the last time I saw most of them, so last words we said with Matilda(Finland) were ''Yea, so hit me up when you come to my country!'' haha and the same with Amanda(Sweden).
On Sunday we started off the day with an almost regular DonutTrip and ended the day in a restaurant up in Roanoke.
